An Abdominal, Pelvic, and Urinary Tract Ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnostic procedure that provides a detailed examination of the organs in the abdomen, pelvis, and urinary system. This scan helps identify various health conditions affecting the digestive, reproductive, and urinary organs, offering a comprehensive view of a woman’s overall health.

What is an Abdominal, Pelvic, and Urinary Tract Ultrasound?

This ultrasound evaluates the abdominal cavity, pelvic region, and urinary tract, offering insights into the following organs:

  • Abdominal organs: liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and spleen
  • Urinary system: bladder, kidneys, and ureters
  • Reproductive organs: uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes

By using sound waves, the scan generates detailed images to detect abnormalities such as cysts, tumors, fibroids, kidney stones, or infections.

Why is an Abdominal, Pelvic, and Urinary Tract Ultrasound Important?

This scan is essential for diagnosing a wide range of conditions in women, including:

  • Abdominal pain or bloating
  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs) or urinary frequency
  • Kidney stones or other kidney issues
  • Pelvic pain or abnormal menstrual cycles
  • Fibroids, ovarian cysts, or endometriosis
  • Gallstones or liver disorders
  • Bladder and urinary issues

It provides clear, detailed images that help pinpoint the cause of symptoms and guide the treatment process.

Benefits of an Abdominal, Pelvic, and Urinary Tract Ultrasound

  • Non-invasive and Safe: The scan uses no radiation, making it safe for all women, including during pregnancy.
  • Comprehensive Imaging: It provides a full overview of the abdominal, pelvic, and urinary systems in a single scan.
  • Accurate Diagnosis: It’s an effective method for identifying conditions that may not be detectable through physical exams alone.

Who Should Consider This Ultrasound?

This ultrasound is recommended for women experiencing:

  • Persistent abdominal or pelvic pain
  • Menstrual irregularities or pelvic discomfort
  • Urinary issues, such as pain, frequent urination, or blood in the urine
  • A history of kidney stones, fibroids, or ovarian cysts
  • Fertility or reproductive health concerns

Brilliant experience. The reception team before I attended replied super quickly and kindly. On the day I had my test with Gosia who was warm, kind and did the blood test with me barely noticing. Thank you so much.

Easy, fast, clean, no fuss, got my blood taken in an instant, no waiting. The nurse even prepared the parcel and posting for me, and she made sure I was at ease and relaxed during the all process. Definitely recommended.

Really great useful practice. I needed to have a medichecks blood sample and did a walk in at 8am, no wait, it was super quick, friendly and easy and the nurse knew how to fill out the medichecks kit. She also let me do a self sample so I could send them off together. This will be my go-to practice for getting a blood test.
