This scan is available for post-menopausal people, usually at least one year after your last menstrual period. Depending on your initial scan results, we may also check your bladder and kidneys. Our friendly, expert sonographer will explain everything throughout the process.

Common reasons for this scan include:

• Family history of ovarian cancer
• Bloating**
• Cramping**
• Irregular bleeding**
• Monitoring the effects of hormone replacement therapy (HRT)
• Detection of fibroids or endometrial polyps

Important: For symptoms marked with **, we recommend discussing them with your GP as soon as possible. A blood test will check the CA125 marker, which is the most commonly used tool for assessing the risk of ovarian cancer. Raised levels may indicate an increased risk, and your GP will guide next steps.
