This scan is performed by one of our qualified sonographers with specialist diagnostic experience. It is designed to support you during your fertility treatment journey by:

• Measuring the thickness of the endometrial lining prior to implantation of a fertilised egg
• Confirming that the ovaries are “quiet,” with no dominant follicles present

Please note that this scan does not include a full follicle count. If you require detailed follicle measurements and a full follicle assessment, we recommend booking a Pelvic Fertility Monitoring Scan, which is better suited to those needs.

For patients with an intrauterine contraceptive device (IUCD), endometrial thickness cannot be accurately measured. If this applies to you, please consult your healthcare professional for further guidance.

For optimal image clarity and the most accurate results, this scan is best performed transvaginally. This involves the sonographer, with your consent, gently inserting an ultrasound probe into the vagina. If you prefer not to have a transvaginal scan, a transabdominal scan (performed over the skin of the pelvic area) may be possible; however, image quality and measurement accuracy may be reduced.

You will receive a clear, written diagnostic report outlining your results, along with our recommendations for next steps. If medical follow-up is advised, we can email a copy of your report to you.

At your appointment, you will be given printed copies of your images and diagnostic report.
